How Often Should Guys Wet Their Hair? Health & Fitness

Ofcourse, you can’t miss the daily shower, but you can save time, energy and products by just wetting your hair without shampoo. Now, how is that done? Just wetting your mane under running water might look unhealthy, but experts say it still has a long way to go.

On an average, washing your hair every three days is recommended, but washing your hair every day can backfire and worsen the condition of your hair and scalp. Therefore, men who do not prefer using products on their hair every day, the solution is just rinsing or wetting hair with only water.

In this blog, let’s read about how often should guys wet their hair, and the method of wetting according to different hair types. Let’s get into it!

Wetting vs Washing Your Hair

Hair is a protein-containing fibre that grows from hair follicles in the dermis. Wetting hair and washing hair are two different things. Showers and running water will wet your hair. You can also soak your hair by spraying water or using products. Although shampooing is very different, although some people call it “moisturizing”, it is a common process of using water, shampoo, and other products to wash hair in order to remove oil and dirt.

Even if your hair is wet or washed, the temperature of the water you use can be beneficial or damage your hair and scalp. Hot water can clean your hair thoroughly, but it weakens the hair and makes it easy to break by opening the pores. On the other hand, cold water makes your hair shinier, helps blood circulate around the scalp and makes it cleaner by closing the pores, because open pores are a dirty scalp because it tends to keep the scalp flaked and collects dirt, also promotes bacterial growth.

Since hot water is harmful to the hair and scalp, it is recommended using warm water to open the pores when washing the hair to prevent dirt from entering. After washing, rinse with room temperature or cold water to seal everything.

Should Guys Wet Their Hair Every Day?

Wet hair depends on the degree of sweating or soiling. If it is a bit hot outside, it can be dried or rinsed under running water. Your hair will dry out and you can wash off the sweat the next day. If they don’t look bad or feel bad, that’s okay. If it looks rough, wash it with water.

But if you are sweaty from CrossFit and your hair is smelly and oily, ordinary water may not cut it. Sweat can only wash off, but water alone is usually not enough to remove dirt and oil.

There are two different ways to moisturize your hair. It can be partial or full application of water or the addition of products to maintain moisture, or both, depending on which moisturizing method is right for your hair type. Spray some water or some water by hand, apply oil and moisten it with leave-in conditioner or other organic products.

Understanding the needs of each hairstyle is essential for styling and beauty. How often you wet your hair will determine the amount of nutrients added and how long they can last to achieve good results and breakthroughs in your hair.

It is perfect for guys to wet their hair with fresh water every day.

So, if you are one of those people who like to wake up to get back in shape, don’t worry, you won’t hurt anything. Wetting the hair with fresh water every day is not a problem, but wetting the hair every day will cause problems for the following reasons:

  • Swimming in sea water or other brackish water
  • Swimming in a chlorinated pool
  • Using harsh shampoos

Wetting Hair According to Hair Type

Here is how often and the methods you should use to wet your hair according to different hair types. Let’s begin!

1# Curly Hair

If your hair is curly, you can straighten it when it gets wet, and it will regain its position when it’s dry. Although washing your hair every day will cause stress and dry out your hair, you can choose to get it wet. Wetting hair every other day depends on what results you want to get, what activities you want to participate in or how you want to look at work.

Your hair styling starts in the shower, but if you decide to wet your hair outside the shower, use a spray bottle or wet towel to wet your hair. If you have natural curly hair, use a spray bottle with coconut oil, carrot oil and rose water in it.

2# Wavy Hair

Start wetting your hair with leave-in conditioner. You can try a long-lasting leave-in conditioner that locks in moisture and keeps your hair vigorous throughout the day. It will be best if you add shea butter conditioner because it can be used as a hair sealant.

Due to wavy hair texture, such hair is usually much drier than straight hair. After applying your favourite product to damp hair, scrunch up the hair. It is suitable for wavy hair, adding volume and enhancing natural waves.

3# Straight Hair

We can classify this hair type as fine. It tends to absorb oil faster. You can use conditioner to refresh small heads and nourish the scalp. It is one of the most important nutrients needed for hair growth.

Squeeze the conditioner into your hand, rub it gently, and then apply it to your hair. Use a wide toothed comb to comb your hair. You have to tilt your head back and flush yourself to get rid of these knots. If you don’t want to wet your hair, use a leave-in conditioner. You can apply it directly to the hair by spraying or rubbing.

Conclusion

While washing your hair with hair products such as shampoos and conditioners every day can be harmful and can damage the hair, wetting the hair does not pose as a great threat. It is much less risky and safer. You just need to understand your hair type before treating it a specific way.

It is perfectly okay to wet your hair every day if you know how to style them appropriately. In addition to keeping your hair damp, you need to nourish them with base nutrients and organic oils.
